Grades explained

The grade is the appearance of the wood, not its quality — every grade is the same construction, tested to the same standards. It sets how much natural character shows in the finished floor, which widths are available, and it moves the price.

Select

Mixed texture, mainly straight, selected to assure uniformity in colour. The calmest, most even floor in the range.

Widths
70 mm 90 mm 140 mm 180 mm

UNI EN 13489 category ○

Trend

Mixed texture, straight and flamed, with colour even contrasting. Small healthy knots may be present in some planks.

Widths
70 mm 90 mm 120 mm 140 mm 180 mm 240 mm 300 mm 400 mm 450 mm

UNI EN 13489 category ○

Casual

Mixed texture, wavy grain with colour even contrasting. Knots of different dimensions are present, all filled.

Country

Mixed texture, wavy grain with small filled cracks and frequent, even large knots. Sapwood traces may be present.

UNI EN 13489 free category (appendix B): knots, sapwood, checks, colour variation and flakes are all allowed.

Finishes explained

The finish decides how the floor looks, how it is maintained and how much traffic it takes. Naturale UV, Traffic UV and Raw UV are developed with Bona; Presanded leaves the floor to be finished on site after installation.

Presanded

Untreated surface, sanded to emphasise the wood texture and ready to be finished on site to the customer's wish right after installation.

Supplied unclassified — the reaction-to-fire class applies to the factory-cured UV finishes.

Varnished UV

Acrylic finish with medium-high resistance, very smooth, combining naturalness and brightness.

Naturale UV

Tough protection that stays invisible: extremely matte and natural to the touch, as environmentally friendly as oil but easier to maintain — and the first coating that can be repaired locally.

Raw UV

The maximum naturalness achievable: a factory-cured finish that leaves the natural colour of the wood unchanged, so each species reads as itself.

Traffic UV

The most used high-resistance varnish in the world, available exclusively on Stile prefinished floors. Very high protection against wear, completely transparent, easy to maintain.

Looks identical to Varnished UV — same gloss (around 20) and smoothness; the difference is a component applied during the Traffic process. Suited to airports, hotels and stores, and can also be supplied in Bfl-s1.

Oiled

Neutral oil treatment that preserves the beauty and the nature of the wood. It requires specific procedures for ordinary maintenance.

Compliance & certification

Certifications

Stile is a certified Italian manufacturer and its floors are tested to European and international standards. The marks below describe the range specification — the certificates that apply to your order are confirmed against the collection, construction and finish you choose.

CE

EN 14342

CE marking under UNI EN 14342:2013, the European standard for wood flooring — the product carries a Declaration of Performance for its essential characteristics.

Cfl-s1

Reaction to fire

Fire class to UNI EN 13501-1:2019, and Class I–II under the American standard ASTM E648-10. The Traffic UV finish can also be supplied in Bfl-s1, the higher class demanding commercial and marine specifications ask for.

Applies to the UV-cured finishes. Presanded and Oiled are supplied unclassified — specify a UV finish where a fire class is required. Traffic UV is available in Bfl-s1.

FSC®

Responsible forestry

The birch multilayer used as the backing is FSC certified, and the oak wear layer can be. FSC Chain-of-Custody certified product is available on request — ask for it at quotation stage, it is not the default.

GOLD

Indoor Air Comfort

Indoor Air Comfort GOLD goes beyond the European VOC limits and covers the stricter voluntary protocols: VOC Class A+, BREEAM, EU Ecolabel, Cradle to Cradle and Declare 2.0.

F★★★★

Formaldehyde

Certified by the Japanese Ministry at its highest environmental and health grade, evidencing the lowest formaldehyde emission band.

R

Slip resistance

Tested to UNI CEN/TS 12633:2014 and rated in the highest class, so the floors can be specified for wet and outdoor-adjacent areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and pool surrounds.

IMO/MED

Marine equipment

Marine Equipment Directive conformity for passenger and cargo ships, covering reaction to fire and the toxicity and opacity of smoke.

LEED®

Green building

Through Green Building Council Italia membership, the floors contribute credits toward LEED certification of the building.

ISO 9001

Quality management

The manufacturer operates a management system certified to ISO 9001:2015.

Declarations of Performance, test reports and certificates are supplied with the order. Stile warrants its floors for 25 years in residential and 12 years in commercial installations.
